Hollis Jean Harmon Allen, 73, of Calhoun, Ga., died Thursday (Sept. 5, 2001).

Bannon Funeral Home, Calhoun, Ga., had charge of arrangements with cremation rites accorded. A memorial service was held there Saturday, Sept. 8. A memorial service will be held in LeRoy at a later date.

“Holly” Allen was born Aug. 8, 1928, north of LeRoy, a daughter of Paul and Marinetta Spratt Harmon. She was raised by her grandparents, Clarence and Mayme Spratt on their farm north of LeRoy, along with their 10 children. She left the farm at the age of 14 to go live in Indiana with her mother and step-father, Marinetta and Arthur Sorenson.

She married Robert Allen in Winamac, Ind., Oct. 8, 1949. He died Jan. 12, 1980.

Mrs. Allen is survived by one son, Kevin (Jamie), of California; and a daughter, Debra (Cal) Kaschub, Calhoun, Ga. There are also two granddaughters, Lindsey and Aime Allen, California.

Local survivors are the following aunts and uncles: Maureen Garee, Floyd (Marian) Spratt, Marjorie Vance, Vernon (Margaret) Spratt and Merle (Barbara) Spratt, all of LeRoy, as well as several cousins.

Two sons preceded her in death.
